Weekend versus Everett
The Kelowna Rockets will face the Everett Silvertips back to back Friday and Saturday at Prospera place this weekend. Rockets head into this game after a 5-2 loss to the Seattle Thunderbird last Friday. Since the New Year the Rockets have four wins, two losses and a shoot out win. This will be only the fourth game for the Rockets full squad since the trade deadline where they acquired Chance Braid from the Prince Albert Raiders as well as the rights of Leon Draisaitl and getting back Madison Bowey and adding Josh Morrissey from Team Canada at the World Junior Championships from Toronto. Coming into this weekend the Everett Silvertips are hot, winning the last nine out of ten games they have played. The Silvertips are sitting in second place in the Western conference right behind the Rockets with 64 points in 46 games. One Silvertip player to note is Nikita Scherbak from Moscow, Russia, who is currently the Silvertips highest point getter with 57 points in 40 games. This is the second and third meeting between these two teams, the Rockets did win the first game in over time. These two will meet again March 3, in Everett. “I think these guys do a pretty good job for preparing for games, better then I have seen in the past from other player or other teams, It’s more or less trying to continue on with the confidence they have built.” said assistant coach Travis Crickard. One piece of the puzzle will rejoin the team for Friday nights game, Rourke Chartier will be back in the line up after missing the last game due to an upper body injure. Rockets have been hard at work on the ice all week since the loss last Friday night. Game time Friday January 23 is 7:05pm as well as Saturday January 24th.
